1.3 Million Vehicle Loss From Microchip Shortage

Supply chain issues have led to vehicle assembly cutbacks at Stellantis, Ford, GM, Toyota, Honda, Nissan, Subaru, VW, and Daimler. Global forecasts announced cuts north of 680k vehicles. AutoForecast Solutions forecasts that number could grow to 1.3 million as other auto plants and supply chains run out of microchips.

Manufacturers are scaling production due to the shortage. Cabin amenities, driver comfort, and connectedness are becoming as important for competitiveness as durability and towing capacities, as they all require these microchips.
